Nehru Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, celebrated the vibrant festival of Onam on 2nd September 2025 with great enthusiasm and cultural splendor. The campus came alive with the spirit of festivity, unity, and tradition, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Kerala.
The celebrations commenced with a traditional Pookalam (floral carpet) designed by students, showcasing their creativity and artistic skills. The fragrance of fresh flowers filled the campus with festive cheer and created a lively atmosphere.
The highlight of the celebration was the series of cultural performances by students, which included Thiruvathira dance, Pullikali, Onam songs, skits, and folk performances. These performances beautifully captured the essence of Onam and symbolized togetherness, prosperity, and harmony.
Onam is a harvest festival that celebrates the reward of nature after a year of hard work by farmers. The true beauty of the festival lies in its secular outlook, as people of all religions, castes, and communities come together to celebrate with equal joy and enthusiasm.
The Onam celebration at the college fostered cultural understanding, unity, and a sense of shared happiness among students and staff, making the event memorable and meaningful.
