About the centre

The Centre for Indian Knowledge System promotes Indian Knowledge Systems through education, research, and skill development.  It integrates traditional wisdom, literature, arts, and languages into academic programs and practical applications. The Centre encourages interdisciplinary collaboration across college departments. Students gain insights into Ayurveda, agriculture, literature, classical arts, philosophy, and linguistics. Workshops, seminars, and cultural events foster awareness and appreciation of IKS and India’s diverse heritage. The Centre actively supports the preservation and revitalization of traditional languages and artistic expressions.

 Expected Outcomes

  • Aims to empower students with a deeper understanding of Indian Knowledge System applications in academics and real-world challenges.  
  • Enhance cultural appreciation, Promotes and preserves traditional art, literature, and languages among the college community.  
  • Creates a collaborative ecosystem that bridges ancient wisdom with modern disciplines, driving holistic growth and sustainable development.  

Vision 
The Centre for IKS (Nehru Arts and Science College for Indian Knowledge Systems) 's vision is to promote, preserve, and integrate India's rich traditional knowledge systems into modern education and research, fostering innovation and holistic development rooted in Indigenous wisdom.
Mission 
The mission of the Centre for NASC IKS is to explore, document, and disseminate Indian Knowledge Systems, fostering interdisciplinary research and their integration into education to address contemporary challenges.

Objectives 

  • Curriculum Integration: Embed Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) into academic programs for holistic education.
  • Research Initiatives: Support student and faculty research on traditional knowledge addressing modern challenges.
  • Skill Training: Offer workshops and certifications in Ayurveda, agriculture, crafts, and sustainability.
  • Cultural Events: Organize exhibitions and competitions to foster appreciation of India's heritage.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Promote cross-departmental partnerships for IKS applications.
  • Capacity Building: Provide resources and training for effective study and application of IKS.
