About Department

The Department of Forensic Science works to improve how scientific principles and modern technology are used in crime investigations and the justice system. Forensic science is very important to the criminal justice system because it makes sure that evidence is collected, stored, analyzed, and presented in a way that meets legal standards. Forensic scientists systematically examine physical and biological materials to find a clear scientific link between the crime scene, the evidence, and the people involved. Some professionals work on crime scenes, while others do specialized lab tests and then testify as expert witnesses in court about what they found. Recognizing the increasing use of advanced technology in criminal activities and the shortage of trained forensic experts in India, the department aims to develop skilled professionals who can contribute effectively to modern criminal investigations. The academic program offered by the department is multidisciplinary in nature, integrating knowledge from forensic physics, forensic chemistry, forensic biology, forensic psychology, and criminal law.

The department focuses on building strong scientific foundations, analytical abilities, and investigative skills through a balanced approach that combines theoretical learning with practical training and laboratory experience. By providing exposure to real-world forensic applications and contemporary investigative techniques, the department prepares students to meet the growing demands of the criminal justice system. Graduates of the program are equipped to pursue careers in forensic laboratories, law enforcement agencies, investigative organizations, and other institutions involved in scientific crime investigation, thereby contributing to the pursuit of justice through science.
