EXAMINATION MISCONDUCT INVESTIGATION AND DISCIPLINARY ACTION

  • Instances of malpractice such as copying using manuscripts, copying from other candidates, smuggling of answer books, indecent behavior in the examination room, use of unfair means etc., are liable to be punished as per College rules.
  • The Examination Vigilance Committee has been constituted to investigate cases of malpractice committed by students during the conduct of CIA and End Semester Examinations (Theory/Practical). Any instance of malpractice observed during an examination is reported by the Hall Superintendent to the Chief Superintendent. The Hall Superintendent is responsible for collecting the answer script and any supporting materials related to the malpractice, along with a written statement from the student concerned. These documents are then forwarded to the Controller of Examinations (CoE) along with reports from both the student and the Hall Superintendent.
  • A circular is issued by the Office of the CoE informing the concerned student and their parent(s) about the date of the malpractice enquiry. The enquiry is conducted in the presence of the student and their parent(s) and HoD.
  • The student is given an opportunity to present his/her explanation. The committee records the statements of the invigilator and the student and examines the seized materials. After careful consideration of the evidence and the explanation submitted, the committee arrives at its conclusion regarding the malpractice.
  • If the candidate is found guilty of malpractice, the examination for the concerned subject shall be cancelled and awarded “0” (Zero) in the mark statement. If the candidate is found to be involved in such incidents in the future, he/she shall be debarred from appearing for the examinations.
  • The disciplinary action will be recommended by the Examination Vigilance Committee after enquiry, as per the malpractice guidelines recommended by the Examination Committee and approved by the Academic Council.
