Hands-on Training workshop on Forensic DNA Fingerprinting

Mr. Karukuvelraja elaborating on the principles and practical applications of Forensic DNA Fingerprinting, demonstrating key laboratory techniques and their significance in criminal investigations during the hands-on training workshop.
The Department of Criminology and Forensic Science organized a “Two-Day Hands-on Training Workshop on Forensic DNA Fingerprinting” to enhance student’s practical competence in forensic molecular biology. The session was led by Mr. Karukuvelraja, who provided detailed demonstrations on DNA extraction, amplification, and profiling techniques used in criminal investigations. Students gained hands-on experience in handling biological samples such as cheek epithelial cells and blood under standard laboratory protocols. The workshop strengthened student’s technical proficiency, analytical skills, and understanding of real-time forensic applications, thereby bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical casework exposure.
