About the Event
The Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, under the School of Investigative Science and Technology, in association with the Disaster Risk Reduction Club and the Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force (TNDRF), organized a three-day Disaster Response and Emergency Rescue Training Programme (AAPDA MITRA) from 28th to 30th July 2026. The programme aimed to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills in disaster preparedness, emergency response, rescue operations, and first aid. Participants underwent expert-led sessions on Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR, cyclone and flood management, CBRN awareness, boat operations with Outboard Motor Boat (OBM), musculoskeletal injury management, patient lifting and transportation, load stabilization, basic search and rescue, tsunami management, landslide and earthquake response, followed by practical demonstrations using inflatable rescue boats (IRB), air lifting bags, hydraulic cutters and jacks, and first-aid splinting techniques. The training concluded with a validation session to assess participants’ understanding and practical competencies.
