About the Event
The Department of Criminology and Forensic Science, under the School of Investigative Science and Technology, organized a Guest Lecture on Gender Equity and the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act, 2013, on 21st September 2026. The session aimed to sensitise students about the importance of gender equality, inclusivity, equal opportunities, and maintaining a safe and respectful environment in educational and professional settings. The guest speaker provided insights into gender stereotypes, gender-based discrimination, workplace rights and responsibilities, and the key provisions of the POSH Act, including the prevention and redressal of sexual harassment. The interactive session encouraged students to understand their roles in promoting a culture of dignity, equality, awareness, and respect.
Outcome
The guest lecture enhanced students’ awareness of gender equity, workplace safety, and the provisions of the POSH Act, 2013. Participants gained a better understanding of gender-based discrimination, appropriate workplace conduct, individual rights and responsibilities, and mechanisms for preventing and addressing sexual harassment. The session encouraged students to contribute towards creating a safe, inclusive, respectful, and gender-equitable environment in academic and professional spaces.
