Student Grievance Redressal Cell

OBJECTIVES

The objectives of a Student Redressal Grievance Committee are to create a supportive and transparent system that addresses and resolves student concerns fairly and efficiently. This committee aims to ensure that every student feels heard and respected, fostering an inclusive academic environment. The key objectives include timely and impartial resolution of complaints related to academic or administrative issues and building trust between the Institution and its students. Additionally, the committee works to identify recurring issues and implement preventive measures, contributing to the overall improvement of campus life and student satisfaction. By setting clear processes and upholding confidentiality, the committee strives to create a positive educational experience for all students.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Facilitate a clear and accessible process for students to submit grievances.
  • Ensure confidentiality and sensitivity in handling grievances, encouraging students to voice their issues without fear.
  • Assess each grievance thoroughly to determine its validity and identify the key issues.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations, if necessary, to gather relevant information and facts related to the grievance.
  • Suggest appropriate actions to resolve issues based on the nature and severity of the complaint.
  • Collaborate with various departments, faculty, or administration to ensure grievances are addressed effectively.
  • Aim for prompt resolution of grievances within a stipulated timeframe to prevent escalation.
  • Regularly update the complainant on the progress of their grievance, maintaining open communication throughout the process.
  • Keep detailed records of each grievance, including investigations, actions taken, and resolutions.
  • Inform students about the grievance redressal process, their rights, and how to approach the committee.
  • Ensure that all information related to grievances is handled with strict confidentiality to protect student’s privacy.
  • Follow up on resolved cases to ensure that solutions have been effectively implemented and the issue has been adequately addressed.
  • Encourage feedback from students to improve the grievance redressal process continuously.

Anti Ragging Committe

About
Nehru Arts and Science College maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy towards ragging and is committed to providing a safe and ragging-free campus.
Ragging Curb Committee

  • The Ragging Curb Committee ensures compliance with the UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions, 2009.
  • The committee convenes regularly to review and implement the latest UGC guidelines and directives.

Objectives

  • Educate students on the importance of a “Ragging-Free Campus” and the value of mutual respect and inclusivity.
  • Promote awareness of the human rights issues related to ragging and its impact on student well-being.
  • Maintain constant monitoring and vigilance to prevent the occurrence and recurrence of ragging incidents within and outside the campus.
  • Act decisively against defaulters found guilty of engaging in or abetting ragging, either actively or passively, including those involved in conspiracies to promote ragging.

Anti-Ragging Squad
The Anti-Ragging Squad monitors and ensures the effective implementation of preventive measures to maintain a ragging-free environment on campus. The Anti-Ragging Squad operates under the supervision and guidance of the Ragging Curb Committee.

Its primary functions are as follows:

  • Monitor and prevent ragging incidents in areas where students gather, such as classrooms, canteens, buses, playgrounds, hostels, and other campus locations.
  • Respond promptly to any reported or observed instances of ragging and take immediate corrective measures.
  • Educate and sensitize students about the harmful consequences of ragging and the legal and disciplinary actions associated with it.
  • Conduct orientation programs and personality development activities to foster a positive campus environment and promote healthy student interactions.
  • Work in close coordination with the Anti-Ragging Committee to implement preventive measures and comply with UGC and institutional guidelines.

RAGGING IS A CRIMINAL OFFENCE AND THE CULPRITS WILL ATTRACT PUNITIVE ACTION AS MENTIONED IN THE UGC REGULATIONS

  • As per the Supreme Court judgment, UGC has issued “Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher Educational Institutions.”
  • Following these regulations, Bharathiar University mandates online submission of Anti-Ragging undertakings/affidavits by students and parents/guardians.
